Overview

Gild ("we," "us," or "our") is a personal finance application that helps you manage your money, track your goals, and receive AI-powered financial guidance. We take your privacy seriously. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.

Gild does not sell your personal information. We do not share your financial data with advertisers. We do not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

Information We Collect

When you connect a bank account, we use Plaid Technologies, Inc. to retrieve your account and transaction data. This includes:

Plaid's access is governed by Plaid's Privacy Policy. Gild never sees or stores your bank credentials.

App usage events:

We record a small set of basic app-flow events — for example, that you signed up, started linking a bank, or completed setup. These events tell us where new users get stuck so we can fix it. They deliberately contain no dollar amounts, no transaction details, and no account information. We built this measurement in-house; no third-party analytics service receives any of your data.

How We Use Your Information

AI-Powered Features

Gild's advisor feature uses Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic. When you send a message to the advisor, relevant portions of your financial context — such as account balances, net worth, spending by category, and your stated goals — are sent to Anthropic's API to generate a response.

Data Storage and Security

On your device: your financial data — transactions, balances, goals, and budgets — is stored locally in per-user encrypted storage using AES-256. The encryption key is secured in your device's iOS Keychain and never leaves your device.

On our servers: we operate a small backend (hosted on Fly.io, with a database hosted by Neon) that stores:

Deleting Your Account

You can permanently delete your account from within the app: Settings → Privacy & data → Delete account & data. Deletion is immediate and cannot be undone. It:

Your Rights and Choices

If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information we collect and the right to request deletion. Contact us to exercise these rights.

Data Retention

Financial data on your device is retained for as long as the app is installed, or until you delete your account. Server-side data — your account record, encrypted bank-access tokens, rated advisor responses, and usage events — is retained until you delete your account, at which point it is permanently removed. We do not retain your advisor conversations on our servers; only responses you explicitly rate are stored, and those are deleted with your account.

Children's Privacy

Gild is not directed to children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, contact us immediately at sage.wackett7@gmail.com.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will notify you via email (if you have provided one) and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Gild after changes take effect constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
